Sunday Night Passing League

Here we go the start of Summer Football! Every Sunday night from 4 to 7:30 the boyz have a high school summer passing league for Varsity. With Tanner going into the 9Th grade he gets to join the varsity. They play 2 games on the MSU Field. We lost the first one to West and then beat Wasecca the 2ND game by 7. It was fun to watch Tabor show leadership on the field and Tanner even got a pass thrown his way. This league runs the month of June with weight lifting and practice during the week 11-2:30. So we are gone Sunday night for football, Monday-Tuesday-Wednesday and Thursday night for baseball.

We are going to loose cable Internet for a couple days for the move... but we have the keys and the house is ready for us to move in! :)

And just to keep school in the post, here is a pic from this morning of our crazy sweet potato plant:

And our tomato experiment:

Even with the toddler abuse the bottom one seems to be doing ok. The top one has FLOWERS! :)

See you all next week and hope you have an amazing weekend!!!

Way to go Dalton!

We celebrated Dalton's 6Th grade graduation on the last day of school. Dalton was elected president for the returning 7Th grade class. This class of 20 kids celebrated with potluck picnic at the park with water balloons. Wow can you believe that we have all the boyz in high school. Tanner is going to be a freshman and Tabor a Junior this fall. Time fly's by so fast! Tamara made a haul the last day of school with all types of gifts from food/candies to candles and lotions. She has a couple days off then summer school starts on Monday where she will help teach kids who struggle in reading. Mrs.Elliott is going to have the whole month of July off to take the boyz to the lake.

Book pick of the week

This weeks book comes from the library. It is a cute little board book called Baby Animals by Gyo Fujikawa. From start to finish it is cute, gentle, and perfect for a sunny afternoon in the shade with a toddler.

The art is just stunning in a beautiful soft retro fashion... I keep thinking that I would love to put it on Logan's walls in his room. :)

This page says "But big and small, all baby animals like to be petted and snuggled.... Gently."

Early Ed ~ Button sorting

I remember my mom's button basket fondly. It was a round basket with a top... which is rare, but she found two... one small and one large. The large one was decorated with a red tassle on the top. She held all sorts of things in that basket over the years. I even saw it last year when I helped her clean out her house to move to CA for good. But my favorite memories of that basket were when it was filled with baggies of buttons. She had buttons saved from old tee shirts, buttons cut off jackets that we grew out of, buttons from the stores she had picked up for a purpose and just never got around to using. All of these buttons were such a wonderful facination for me.

I have been trying to recreate that with Logan.

I got a bucket of buttons from a craft shop, put them in a tupperware I had and let him pick out a set of measuring cups when we were at the Goodwill one day.

Today I asked him to find me all the blue ones (one of the 4 colors he knows on site):

And then put them in the big cup.

We did that for about 15 minutes... with him asking me "Dis blue one?" and me saying yay or nay and then him putting it in the cup. Then he decided that we needed to use the little cup:

Alas... the little cup doesn't even fit one button. lol... but he sure did try for a while.

Science continues... even without help

I could have sworn that I took a picture of Alex's sweet potato experiment when we did it... but the best one I could find was this:

Can you see it? It is behind the flower colored water experiment. Just a plain old organic Garnet Yam in water held up with three long toothpicks. After 5 wks:

I find that pretty darned amazing! What is even crazier is that it is getting HUGE right now with the hot weather we have been having. The leaves grow every day. When we move I will take another picture and show you how much it has grown!

And a little bonus from the frugal bin.... my new kid motivator:

Gum ball machine from Value Village: $1.99
Huge bag of M&M's from Costco: $7.99
What kids will do for one M&M: Priceless
