My Kiddos in Ancient History

When we started Story of the World last year, I had no idea what the year would mean for our family. Two moves and 9 months later, I haven't really gotten much farther than I was those first few weeks. Luckily, I have an amazing group of friends and another mama in my group was also behind with her SOTW studies. She designed this INCREDIBLE class to catch up. And I gotta say... my kids are hooked!

The first lessons were all about the first writing. The kids wrote in crueiform and hieroglyphics (this wonderful scroll made by my daughter says "Cyan").

This project was from the study of the Fertile Crescent and the flooding of the Nile river. I will have to show you what it does in a couple weeks when all the seeds they put in this soil start to grow.

This was amazing. When my friend taught the class on first writing, Alex was so intrigued that he decided to use his tablet to make a letter to me all in crueiform. This tablet is also pictured above, and that part says "I love you mom. Without you, I would not be. Alex (in the heart)"

Even in another language, he is a poet at heart.

He wrote on every surface of this clay tablet... it took him hours to do it, and it is all to me. He is such a sweetheart!

Yet another project that Alex spent hours on. He painted this box for his mummy that they made amazingly well. I just love when he is passionate about something! It feels so good to see him excited about school anything.

I am so excited to see the rest of the classes that Heather has planned. She is an amazing teacher and I feel so blessed that she is willing to let my kids follow along!
